What is grapefruit rosé ?

Provence is world famous for its rosé wines, so it's only natural that Rosé Pamplemousse should have its origins in the south of France.  Rosé Pamp, as it is often called, is quite simply the subtle combination of a rosé wine flavoured with grapefruit. Known as "Petit Jesus" in Mayotte or the "Fisherman's Cocktail" in Brittany, rosé grapefruit is now famous all over France. Associated with Provence and its cicadas, it is often drunk as an aperitif in summer.

Here are 3 recipes for rosé grapefruit that your guests will thank you for.

The recipe for homemade grapefruit rosé

This is the most classic version of Rosé Grapefruit. A convivial aperitif, it is served by the glass or in a large salad bowl for large receptions, just as you would sangria. It's an easy way to make a great cocktail for lots of people.

Serves 6 :

  1. Take a litre of Rosé of your choice
  2. Pour the bottle into a large salad bowl
  3. Add 25 cl of Eyguebelle grapefruit syrup
  4. Stir the drink with a spoon (as the syrup is a little dense and tends to sink to the bottom)

Tip 1 : Put your salad bowl in the fridge before preparing the cocktail (which you can do at the last minute). This way, you can serve your guests a perfectly chilled Rosé Grapefruit.

Rosé Grapefruit for 10 people :

  • 2 bottles of rosé
  • 40 cl grapefruit syrup

For 20 people :

  • 4 bottles of rosé
  • 80 cl grapefruit syrup

The advantage of this recipe is that you can vary the quantities and ingredients. Change the rosé or the syrup. You can also easily adjust the amount of grapefruit syrup to make a rosé that's more or less sweet, depending on your taste.

Tip 2 : For an original variation, replace the grapefruit syrup with Eyguebelle Violet Syrup.
